Joe Cole is a middle school math teacher and K–8 mathematics instructional coach at Northeast College Prep (NECP) in Minneapolis, Minnesota. After attaining his master’s degree in education from the University of California, he taught various elementary grades in Santa Barbara, California, for a decade. Joe served for two years as a Peace Corps volunteer teacher in China prior to moving to the Twin Cities, where he became a founding teacher at NECP, a public charter school whose core convictions mirror the guiding principles of the Responsive Classroom approach. He is deeply invested in social justice and empowering students to be the positive change this world needs. When he’s not teaching, Joe can be found exploring the cities on his bicycle or relaxing poolside with a book after swimming laps.
