Our Moderator

Karen PoplawskiKaren Poplawski, Director of Programs at CRS

Prior to becoming a director at Center for Responsive Schools, Karen was a Responsive Classroom Curriculum & Instructional Designer, and Consulting Teacher, working with educators worldwide to transform their school communities. Before joining the staff at CRS, she spent ten years as a classroom teacher, and seven years as a principal—utilizing Responsive Classroom techniques and practices in the classroom and in the two schools for which she was the founding principal.

Cofie, JaneJane Cofie, Curriculum & Instructional Designer at CRS

Jane has been an elementary general education teacher in Fairfax County, Virginia, for 19 years. She received her bachelor’s degree in English and later went on to pursue a master’s in teaching at the University of Richmond. She has taught pre-K through fifth grade in private and public school settings in both suburban and urban areas. Jane began using the Responsive Classroom approach in her third-grade classroom nearly 12 years ago and witnessed an incredible transformation, leading her down the path towards eventually joining the Responsive Classroom program development team.

 

Gill, MichelleMichelle Gill, Professional Development Designer at CRS

At CRS, Michelle facilitates Responsive Classroom workshops and courses to educators across the country and provides coaching to new and experienced Responsive Classroom presenters. Previously, Michelle taught in the School District of Philadelphia and later in Fairfax County Public Schools in northern Virginia, often co-teaching in an inclusion classroom. Over her 15 years as a classroom teacher, Michelle experienced the power of the Responsive Classroom approach and was moved to share the approach with educators, knowing it provides them with a belief system to validate what they know to be best for students and the tools they need to create safe, joyful, and challenging classroom communities for all students.

 

Januszka, DanaDana Januszka, Consulting Teacher at CRS

With over 18 years of teaching and coaching experience in both urban and suburban settings, Dana is currently a part-time consultant at CRS. Dana quickly developed a passion for Responsive Classroom teaching practices after attending a workshop. Seeing the positive impact the approach had on her students in both primary and special area settings, she has been excited to share her knowledge and passion with other teachers. In addition to presenting Responsive Classroom workshops and courses, Dana has worked on the research and development team for the Responsive Classroom middle school approach and is a co-author of two key publications from CRS.
