Shipping and Receiving Clerk

Turners Falls, Massachusetts

SUPERVISED BY: Director of Marketing 

This is an on-site position in the Turners Falls, Massachusetts office. 


This position is responsible for preparing outgoing shipments and receiving incoming shipments for a  wide variety of purposes. It is also responsible for organizing inventory for easy retrieval as new or returning products come in, reviewing incoming and outgoing shipment schedules to maintain production operations and documenting damages to inventory. This position prepares and oversees the shipping and receiving of materials for Responsive Classroom® advertised events and marketing presence at external conferences. One-fourth of the work will be devoted to supporting the shipping and receiving needs across departments within the organization. 


Shipping and Packing 

  • Carefully prepares packages for shipping by following packing and shipping procedures. 
  • Ensures shipping and packing procedures are updated, organized, and posted.
  • Packs items in a way to prevent potential damage 
  • Transport packages from packing and storage areas to the shipping and pick-up area
  • Ensures all accompanying documentation is present with packed items 
  • Makes sure that packages are sealed and labeled appropriately. 
  • Assist in loading packed items onto delivery trucks and make sure that they are accounted for.
  • Organizes others as needed to transport packed to or from the shipping/receiving area
  • Arrange for an adequate supply of shipping materials at all times 
  • Forward requisition requests in a timely manner 

Managing and Sending Digital Materials for virtual events and digital ads 

  • Works with project manager and graphic designer to gather assets for digital tradeshows.
  • Gather and submit the assets for digital ads on a bi-weekly basis. 

Receiving and Inventory Management 

  • Examines and test inventory of items for shipping to ensure they are in good working condition 
  • Report any damaged items to supervisor and make sure that they are replaced
  • Prepare shipment papers following guidelines and protocols provided by the company
  • Make arrangements for pickup of shipments before delivery to the pallet 
  • Collaborates and communicates with logistics teams, customer service representatives, event  planning and marketing team, program staff and others involved in the shipment of products.
  • Tracks, traces, and updates the status of outgoing shipments. 
  • Maintains a clean, neat, and member-ready area. 
  • Maintains an accurate log sheet of daily moves, scanning inventory, and counting accurately.
  • Engages with vendors and drivers with a positive attitude. 
  • Provides additional backup support for shipping and receiving departments.
  • Perform both preventative and general maintenance on equipment and tools used to handle  shipments 
  • Enter order and shipment information in company-provided database 
  • Provide information about each shipment to the supervisor and at the delivery point 


  • Must be well organized and able to manage a variety of many important duties and details that ensure shipping and receiving activities go smoothly. 
  • Able to use or learn to use Customer Management Software and keep good shipping records Attention to detail; inventorying and sorting outgoing stock 
  • Pulling, packing, and loading 
  • Good written and verbal communication skills 
  • Strong sense of time organization and urgency 
  • Able to work independently and within a team 
  • Able to lift up to 75lbs 

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent 
  • Up to a year of logistics, retail, or customer service experience
